Eye Test Procedure
When you go for an eye test there is a standard procedure followed. First you will have a consultation with your optometrist to discuss any concerns or problems you may have been having and any medications that you are taking. Once you have had your consultation you are ready for your eye test.
The first test will be to read letters from a chart to test your focus and distance vision. Next the optometrist will use a light source to shine into your eyes to examine how your eyes react to light. This test gives information on your outer eye. Next a light source will be shone into the back of your eye to test their health; this is the test for the inner eye. The muscles in the eye will be checked. The optometrist will also do checks to see if you need glasses using a variety of lens and pattern tests.
It is important to ask any questions you may have. It is important that you understand all the tests and any instructions that the optometrist gives you. At the end of the test the optometrists should sit down and discuss the results of all the tests and what you need, if anything, to do or wear to improve your eyesight.
