Introduction To Eye Tests
When you are going for an eye test an optometrist will check your eyes. An optometrist is a specialist in eye care. The word optometrist comes from the Greek meaning literally ‘vision measurement’.
For most people who become afflicted by a disease that affects their eyesight, it is quite often the case that they are more concerned about losing their vision than anything else. This really shows how much we value our vision and should not at any time take it for granted. This is why it is so important for us to make sure that oiur eyes are in the best possible condition and that we are doing everything we can to protect and maintain them.
Your Optometrist is your first point of call for a problem with your eyesight and with the scope of tests available to them they will quickly be able to identify common problems and treatments for you. If they cannot help then you would be referred to a doctor and eye specialist who would look at the problem in more depth. Most issues with eyesight however are resolved with a visit to your optometrist.
